New Forest Ranger

The children in Year 5 were pleased to welcome a New Forest Ranger for an informative and engaging session linked to our geography and local area studies. He delivered an excellent presentation about caring for and respecting the forest, helping the children understand how people can protect this unique environment. They learned about the rare plants and wildlife that make the New Forest so special and had the opportunity to examine real artefacts and resources. The session has inspired the children to think carefully about conservation and their role in looking after our local area.

Chris Connaughton Visit

The children in Year 5 were delighted to welcome Chris Connaughton for a lively morning of Robin Hood storytelling and creative writing. Chris brought the legendary world of Sherwood Forest to life, sharing exciting tales featuring Robin Hood, Maid Marian, Little John and the Sheriff of Nottingham. The children took part in engaging storytelling challenges and explored themes of justice, bravery and friendship. They also had the chance to write their own traditional Robin Hood ballads, with Chris offering guidance and support. The children will now use what they have learned to deepen their understanding in the rest of the writing unit.
