Maths Subject Overview
In Maths this half term, we have learnt a lot about fractions. We started by remembering that a fraction is a part of a whole and using our knowledge about the numerator and denominator to find fractions.
We have used and drawn bar models to help us when finding tenths and also when finding equivalent fractions. Once we were confident finding fractions, we started to count in fractions and moved on to fractions greater than 1.
Then, we applied this understanding to add and subtract fractions from whole numbers and other fractions. Drawing bar models and other representations helped us for this.
We finished our fractions learning by finding fractions of groups of objects and quantities.
We have now started learning about money, including recognising coins and notes and we will be moving on to adding, subtracting and comparing money.
