Learning Behaviours and Rewards

Achievement Tree

Every fortnight two children are chosen from each class to receive a Leaf Award. The award recognises effort and excellence in the classroom and around the school. It is closely linked to our TERRIFIC values and also seeks to foster good learning habits.

The award, in the form of a certificate, is presented in assembly and subsequently a leaf is hung on the tree outside the hall. Family and friends are welcome to come and view the tree and read the citation on the leaf.

Behaviour Awards

A system for recognising consistent good behaviour is used across the school.  Teachers have a chart in their rooms on which they record good individual behaviour over a week by means of a star.  Pupils achieving six consecutive stars will be presented with a certificate in assembly. These can be taken home to share the achievement with families.

Pupils who achieve 6 certificates over the course of the year also receive a Headteacher’s Gold Certificate in recognition of their excellent behaviour.  Certificates additionally provide parents with feedback on their child’s behaviour.  Good behaviour throughout the week also culminates in the opportunity of a ‘Golden Time’ each week.

Other certificate/reward systems may be used within year groups.  Housepoints can be awarded by any member of staff.  These reward social skills, effort and achievement in work and foster team spirit in working together for the benefit of all.
