Waterwise
Our Waterwise visit gave our pupils a fantastic opportunity to learn about why saving water matters and how small actions can make a big difference. Through engaging activities and clear, practical demonstrations, the children learned where our water comes from, how it is used in everyday life, and the simple steps we can take at school and at home to reduce waste. The session supported our wider sustainability work and helped pupils understand their role as responsible, environmentally-aware citizens. We’ve come away with new ideas, renewed enthusiasm, and a commitment to using water more wisely across our school community.
Blashford Lakes Trip
Year 4 had a fantastic trip to Blashford Lakes to support our Geography learning about rivers and our local river, the Avon. We began the day exploring a pond, where we discovered some amazing creatures – including a few newts! From the bird hide, we enjoyed spotting wildlife around the lakes, remembering to keep our voices to a whisper so we didn’t disturb them.
After lunch, we pulled on our wellies and headed to the river. We investigated how the river flows, measured the depth at different points, and observed the way it meanders. While exploring, we found fish, shrimp, a variety of larvae, and many other fascinating creatures.
It was a brilliant day of hands-on learning, and we are excited to continue our studies of the River Avon back in class!
