Dear Parents,
Improving our site security
We are constantly reviewing site security
in an attempt to ensure everyone's safety. We seem to live in a
world where there is an increased need to be vigilant and I am sure
that you will agree with our dedication to keeping everyone safe.
Over the last few years we have made significant improvement to
the site, putting in gates, and asking parents to use the office
for all access to the school. This has been well supported by everyone
and thanks for your co-operation.
Main School Gates on Hightown Road:
The main playground gates are opened at 8.20am and 2.45pm.
Pupils access gate (alongside
Y6)
Mr Moller, the Caretaker and a member of the Senior Leadership Team, will man this gate controlling entry
and exit. In the morning the gate is opened at 8.25am and closed
at 8.35am. In the afternoon, it is opened at 2.55pm and closed at
3.10pm. At any other time children and all visitors need to enter through the office.
Entry through the office:
The office opens at 8:30am for parents, unless they have a prior appointment. Please be patient with the office staff! It is very busy at the
start and end of the day. There are signing in procedures and badges that must be worn by
anyone on the school premises. I understand that this may seem hard
and some parents have said … ‘Oh but you know who I
am’ …… or ….’I am short of time and
can’t wait’.
It is particularly difficult at the end of the
day when the 115 Club meet in the Library before going down to the Sports Pavilion. All teachers escort their classes to the front playground, therefore, if a child has any reason to come back into school they should do so via the office but need to make a member of the office staff aware of this. If you need to see a teacher the office staff will fetch them for
you if they are available.
Collecting children from after
school clubs:
Please can you wait for children outside the main entrance doors
and the children will arrive through the office. Please do not go
around the back of the school via the driveway. If you would like
to help with sports clubs please contact the school office. We always welcome your help and support.
115 Breakfast Club:
If anyone is interested, please contact the 115 club direct for further details.
Collecting children from 115 After School Club:
All children are collected from the Sports Pavilion, and the 115 club will advise you of any changes direct. If you have any queries please contact the 115 club or see their website.
Boundary Security:
Fences have been erected along the cemetery and residential side of the school boundary.
We have a gate at the school end of the pathway to the
playing field. This path is not an entrance to the school and must
not be used to access the school site.
CCTV
We installed CCTV during the summer term 2006 which has proved a very effective deterrent against vandalism.
Staff Identification:
Every member of staff wears a security badge, very similar to those
worn in Ringwood Infants School and Ringwood School.
I hope you understand that this letter is in the
interests of safety for us all. Please help us by supporting these
strategies. We don’t want anyone to feel we are excluding
them from the school, or that you are not welcome. This is far from
the truth. We want you to be a part of our school and our relationship
with you is very important but sometimes we have to follow security
procedures that seem a little unfriendly or formal in the interest
of the safety of our children.
Yours sincerely
Sally-Ann Evans
