Chris Connaughton visit
The children in Year 5 were very pleased to have Chris Connaughton visit for a morning of storytelling and writing challenges. Chris shared a selection of short stories based on a maritime theme, linking to our recent maritime history project. The children heard versions of The Odyssey, Robinson Crusoe and Long John Silver. We also had some of the children's parents and carers join us, and we hope that the children will be inspired to follow up their morning session with some reading at home. We will be doing some more reading and writing based on the stories in school.
Spring Term Open Afternoon
The Year 5 children were excited to welcome many of their parents into the classroom for a fun afternoon of learning. The children had to work in groups with each other and their parents to gather information about life for the crew on RMS Titanic. The children thoroughly enjoyed this task and relished the chance to work with their parents, who we hope also came away having learnt something!
Trip to Portsmouth Historic Dockyard
The children had a wonderful day and have enriched their learning and understanding.

Residential Camping Trip
Year 5 had an amazing time at the residential camping trip to Butchers Coppice. The children had a great time playing games, having a sausage and chip dinner, watching a movie in the ‘outdoor cinema’ which Mr Blake set up and sleeping in tents for the night. The next day, they had the chance to do activities including climbing, archery and crate stacking. The children had an amazing time, and they were very tired by the end of it!
